In rebuttal to the letter posted the other day complaining about Army recruiters being allowed to set up a booth at the Fair, all I can say is "this is America."

The Army recruiters represent one of our armed forces and they don't advocate war, nor do they start them, but they do fight when called upon.

The comments made by the previous writer remind me of a picture I saw, which said; "Coloreds and Soldiers not allowed." That period of our history is done, and must not be allowed to return.

To say that Whatcom County is above allowing recruiters into the Fair is just another form or racism in my opinion, disguised as mom and apple pie. My suggestion to the advocate of segregating the recruiters from a public event: get a life.
