The Bellingham City Council must stop going to the property owners for tax increases when they need more revenue.

Local big businesses want to expand, such as:

? Wal-Mart will bring in more customers and taxes plus more funds to be spent by the customers shopping.

? Costco, which also wants to expand, will double their taxes paid to the city and add more customers spending funds all around the city.

? Anvil Corp. wants to build a three-story building and bring in 200 more employees and again more taxes to the city and individuals shop-ping in our city.

The only thing holding back progress and revenue is the city refusing to issue building permits and adding water connections.

Big business has not harmed the small business since they have been here for years.

So wake up city officials and give property owners a break. Approve the permits for these businesses to expand and get the water they need, so they can start construction.
