Concerning the letter about U.S. Army recruiters being present at the Northwest Washington Fair: The author thinks the fair is "an event for families not war." He is demanding certain rights and said that "We are Washington strong not Army strong".

Just how does our country stay "strong and free" without our soldiers willing to train and be prepared? How do we stay "strong and free" if the military doesn't recruit those to defend us and insure that we enjoy our rights, including a Northwest Washington fair each year?

We like the Army recruiters. I'm so proud of those young men and women willing to lay down their lives so people like you can go and enjoy the agricultural heritage we have.

If it wasn't for our military, the history of our country and education of our youth might have been written entirely different than what the letter's author seems to want them to learn today. In fact, if not for our dedicated "Army strong" we might not have a history to pass down to our youth - period.

We should thank each of those "Army strong" men and women and not just hope, but pray, they will be back next year.
