As an owner of Clark's Point, located at the northern peninsula of Chuckanut Bay opposite Governor's Point, I am writing to express my total objection to the proposed development of 141 homes at Governor's Point. Every aspect of this proposal is against what I believe to be sensible and conservation minded.

Proponents are describing this development as a "green community" with the owners being land stewards, with the goal to preserve the point's environmental and natural setting. It seems incredibly dishonest to describe themselves and their project this way once you see what their plans are. The only way that they will be able to show what was once there is by naming their roadways after all that they will have destroyed.

We placed a conservation easement on our property with the Whatcom Land Trust. We have been more in love with the land and its preservation than in destroying so much of the habitat by developing it.

Options for the property are plentiful. If the owners really want to be land stewards and preserve the environmental and natural setting of this beautiful peninsula, they have many responsible alternatives, none of which include this proposed development.
