Water meters will not solve city water issues

Your editorial board's "Our View" editorials in support of water meters, in my opinion, are silly. I assume none of you have ever lived in a city with meters. They do not conserve water in any way. It is just another way to separate us from our money.

I lived in a metered area for my first 60 years and never heard of anyone basing their usage on the water bill. People use water as they see fit. The rate is usually set on what the average household will use.

Therefore, single and older couples pay more than a young family. Of course in our socialist area, this is a plus.

Has anyone noticed that we live in what some might call almost a rain forest? With the political removal of Georgia-Pacific, there is probably an extra two million gallons of water not being used.

Where does it all go? Why out to the bay? It isn't saved, it is lost.

The only positive thing about meters is that they can spot a major leak.
