The political process has now moved to the "expressions of support" phase. The thoughtful voter must assess opinions, advertise-ments and other endorsements to make important choices.

The American Bar Association recognizes over 47 areas of specialization in the law. When we evaluated those and the knowledge, abilities and potential of the candidates, we conclude that Doug Shepherd has demonstrated a broader and deeper background in areas of the law that most lawyers did not study in law school. Thus he has superior qualifications because of actual practice in a variety of court cases. For a judge, experience and acquired wisdom are critically important.

Our association with Doug Shepherd of nearly 10 years is through his advice on our will, but more so as a champion in our church on issues of justice and social concerns. There is no stronger, fairer or compassionate advocate in Whatcom County for these pressing societal matters. His intelligent, respectful and consistent guidance has inspired our church to consider and adopt more empathetic, inclusive attitudes towards all members of our community.

We enthusiastically support Shepherd for Superior Court Judge.
