In 1989, the three Superior Court judges and the two District Court judges got together and hired Chuck Snyder to work as a court commissioner, dividing his time equally between the two courts. After a short period of time, our needs were such that we offered Commissioner Snyder a full-time job with the Superior Court. District Court judges Ross and Rhea were not too happy that we kept Snyder all to ourselves. However, that turned out to be a brilliant move.
Among other things, he really knew the domestic law and that was about one-third of our duties. As time went on, Snyder earned a strong reputation among other Washington state commissioners in the state as one of the most knowledgeable in the state in that area of law.
In 2004, Snyder was elected to the Superior Court and among his many trial court duties, he took over the Drug Court that we started back in 1999.
He has done a superb job as judge and deserves to be re-elected. Like many others, I always look at prior experience to see if a candidate will do a good job. Snyder has great experience and has really done well.
