Bellingham Council sadly anti-business

I've been holding off, responding to the stupid actions our City Council and our new self-appointed-king mayor are doing but I can contain myself no longer.
First, when the council decided to limit the expansion of existing businesses, i.e. Wal-Mart, it was almost self evident they were trying to bail out a poorly run local grocery chain. Now that chain has been bailed out by another firm; it seems to me in the council's continuing lack of common sense they want to drive all the taxpaying local business out of town.
Walton Beverage and Wilson's Furniture have moved and now the threat of Costco moving and perhaps Wal-Mart. Guess who picks up the lost tax revenue? You and I.
I have no idea what other firms have left or may leave, but it is a sad thing to have such an anti-business group trying to dictate our lives.
To me there is no legitimate reason to have a 90,000-foot cap on business size.
I've yet to hear a real reason with any sense to justify these decisions.
