Unfortunately every park “user group” has its share of irresponsible people. With a growing population and limited space we all have to work out how to get along.

It has been demonstrated that at Bloedel- Donovan Park, having dogs there some of the time prevents geese from being there all the time. The feces and destruction the geese leave behind is much worse than any picnicker, dog or boater can produce.

Those who go with their dogs and leave promptly at 10 a.m., as the rules state, have regular cleanups and keep users adhering to acceptable behavior.

The city contracts with the Humane Society for animal control. Their presence after 10 a.m. at the park with a few well-placed tickets would certainly take care of the problem.
