Concerning the two boys who allegedly set a fire that caused extensive damage to Delft Square in Lynden: What is an appropriate punishment?

Perhaps our Whatcom County prosecutor could insist that the two boys spend a week, night and day, at the burn center in Seattle.

Let them experience what could have happened by being exposed to those with extensive second and third degree burns.

The sight and sounds and smells would have a far greater corrective impact than the typical “community service” handed out to today’s juvenile offenders.

Of course, some will say: “You can’t do that; it might emotionally scar these boys for life.”
