I am very frustrated with a few select drivers in the Birch Bay area.
Even though I too find 20 mph speed limit to be slow in certain areas of Birch Bay, I follow the 20 mph zone. Unfortunately, there are those that must think they are above the law and do not follow the posted signs or road markings.
I have been passed in the 20 mph zone just past the new curve.
The road markings in that area are a double solid yellow line, indicating a “no passing zone,” but for some reason cars choose to ignore the markings and speed limit and zoom past me continuing on their way.
I document the plate of the speeding car, phone it into the Whatcom County Sherriff’s Traffic Info Line, and then hope that the authorities will let the drivers know someone has reported their illegal act.
I encourage more residents to report offenders as well to try and curb the drivers that think the rules of the road do not apply to them.
I am hoping that if more people start reporting these dangerous driverst we can make them realize that laws do apply to all of us.
