“Bypass the voters on tax” was the banner headline in the June 23 issue of The Bellingham Herald.

The incredibly elitist mentality of the County Council left troika of Seth Fleetwood, Laurie Caskey-Schreiber and Carl Weimer has led them to want to enact another tax increase without allowing a vote on the November ballot.

Yet the council also want us to revote on the district-only voting on council representation that was overwhelmingly approved by the voters a few years back because “we knew not what we did,” according to the insight of comrade Barbara Brenner. Now which way is it?

Don’t we, the electorate know what we are doing and should not be able to vote on taxes? Or should we keep voting on what the council members want until we get it right in their opinion?

The blatant hypocrisy of the actions of this elected group is appalling.

Comrades Fleetwood, Caskey-Schreiber, and Brenner, you had better pray that districtonly voting again passes, otherwise I will get to cast my vote against each and every one of your and your non-representative “representation.”
