Believes Democrats in downward spiral

I grew up in the 1950s and 1960s. My parents weathered the Depression and were very frugal as well. Mine was a military family moving on to my father’s next duty station every two or three years. My parents voted Democrat. I did too until I could no longer rationalize the family political tradition.
The Democratic Party of Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy and Johnson had ceased to exist, reduced by counterculture radicalism and riddled with socialist academics, historical revisionists and social experimenters.
I believe it continues its downward spiral as a party wallowing in identity politics and “blame America” philosophy; a party whose leadership uses support of abortion and surrender to seventh century primitives as litmus tests for political credibility; a party perfectly willing to place Hill and Bill at the center of American politics again or failing that, the experienced freshman senator from Illinois.
As for conservatives not writing to The Bellingham Herald regularly; it’s kind of an exercise in futility now isn’t it? You’re always ignorant because you’re never an enlightened Democrat. I just got tired of the nasty phone calls.
