Former Lynden Christian standout softball pitcher Taylor Biehle has signed a letter of intent and accepted a full-ride scholarship offer to continue her playing career at North Platte Community College in Nebraska.
"I liked that they saw a lot of potential for me," Biehle said in a phone interview. "Plus going to Nebraska is going to be an adventure ... I've never been there before."
Biehle was a first-team All-Northwest Conference selection after posting a 10-7 record and a 1.80 ERA for the Lyncs during her senior year. She had 131 strikeouts and allowed only six walks in 109 innings of work. She also had a .370 batting average and 17 RBI.
Biehle caught the attention of the Lady Knights' coaching staff' at a tournament last week in Denver, which she attended as a member of a team out of Lake Stevens. Coaches told Biehle that North Platte hopes to build the team around her the next two seasons.
"That's what they said," Biehle said. "I'm pretty excited for that too ... They have a real good rate of sending players off to four-year colleges after their sophomore year, and most of them get scholarships. That's what I'm interested in, so it sounded great."
Biehle, who also considered Skagit Valley College and North Idaho College, said she plans to major in criminal justice.
