PUBLIC SAFETY

Motorcycle crash victim ‘satisfactory’

CALEB HEERINGA

A 19-year-old Bellingham man involved in a motorcycle wreck Friday evening was listed in satisfactory condition at St. Joseph Hospital Saturday.

Michael J. Brandt was northbound on Highway 9 near Wickersham when he lost control of his 2005 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle, left the road and landed on nearby railroad tracks, according to a Washington State Patrol press release.

Brandt, who was wearing a helmet at the time, was hospitalized with leg injuries. Troopers believe his speed and inexperience on a motorcycle contributed to the wreck, according to the press release.
