$1,500 raised for Blue Skies

BELLINGHAM — About 300 people showed up Saturday to buy other people’s discarded items, with the money going to charity.

The benefit junk sale, put on by the local 1-800-GOTJUNK? at its Meridian Street warehouses, raised about $1,500 for Blue Skies for Children, which helps homeless, foster and poor children.

The items were some of the best antiques, furniture, tools and other property that the business has picked up from homes and businesses in the community. Other items collected by 1-800- GOT-JUNK? are recycled or donated to local nonprofits.

Another junk sale is planned for next season.
