Auction to benefit Beach Elementary School

LUMMI ISLAND - The Beach Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization is having an auction Saturday, June 6, to raise money to offset proposed budget cuts.

The event, "Beach Combing for Treasures," will feature a silent auction, live music and food. Tickets are $5 per person or $10 for a family.

Ferndale School District officials have proposed cutting $151,000 from the school's budget, but the Beach PTO and Lummi Island community are trying to raise enough money to keep all the school's teachers.
