BELLINGHAM - Results to change the term limit of the City Council's at-large position have flip-flopped in what is the tightest race in the area this election.
Voters now are rejecting a proposal to make the at-large seat a four-year position instead of the current two-year term, but the margin is still slim.
It's being rejected 51.25 percent to 48.75 percent as of results released at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, from the Whatcom County Auditor's Office. The office has counted about two-thirds of the ballots that have come in to date.
So far, the margin between "Yes" and "No" is 569 votes.
