Two men injured in collision on Northwest Drive near Ferndale

Two men were injured in a car collision on Northwest Drive north of Smith Road near Ferndale Wednesday, Oct. 8.
An 80-year-old Ferndale man driving south tried to pass a car at 6:47 a.m. His car collided head-on with northbound car, said Sgt. Steve Gatterman of the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office.
A 54-year-old man from Colorado was driving the northbound car, Gatterman said.
Both men were transported to St. Joseph Hospital with serious injuries that were not life-threatening, Gatterman said.
The Sheriff's Office is investigating to see if speed was a factor in the crash, Gatterman said.
