BELLINGHAM - Those interested in participating in the annual Jingle Bell Walk/Run for Arthritis this December are encouraged to attend a free kickoff breakfast on Wednesday, Oct. 8,at the Bellingham Golf & Country Club, 3729 Meridian St.
People at the breakfast will receive information about the event and meet other participants and volunteers.
Doors open at 7 a.m., and the program, which features speaker Jim Moren, a local doctor, and local magician Sterling Dietz, will run from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
The annual run/walk has become a fun community event - people have been known to dress in holiday-inspired costumes - that raises money for the North Puget Sound Branch of the Arthritis Foundation. The money is used for local programs, services and arthritis research.
This year's walk/run through downtown Bellingham is set for Saturday, Dec. 13.
