Two women and a 4-year-old child were injured the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 10, in a two-car collision that blocked Mount Baker Highway at Marshall Hill Road.
Alison M. Miller, 36, of Deming was driving a 1994 Buick Regal west on the highway about 9:10 a.m. when her car crossed the center line and struck a 1996 Subaru wagon head-on, according to Washington State Patrol.
Miller, her passenger, 4-year-old Jesse Miller, and the other car's driver, Melissa A. Messerschmidt, 30, of Bellingham were injured and taken to St. Joseph Hospital, according to State Patrol. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and the child was properly restrained.
Alison and Jesse Miller were treated and released, while Messerschmidt remains in serious condition.
Both cars were totaled in the crash, which blocked the road until almost 11 a.m.
State Patrol did not know why Miller’s car crossed the line, but cited her for the offense.
