A Mukilteo man accused of molesting a Lynden girl several times in the last four years was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Lynden police arrested Larry L. Grubb, 55, on suspicion of first-degree rape of a child without force and booked him into Whatcom County Jail, where he remained Wednesday evening on $50,000 bail.

Grubb pleaded not guilty at an arraignment in Whatcom County Superior Court Wednesday afternoon.

Child Protective Services reported the alleged abuse to a Lynden Police Department detective July 30, Lynden Police Chief Jack Foster said.

The detective interviewed the girl, who is younger than 12, Foster said. The girl said she knew Grubb, and that Grubb inappropriately touched her on several occasions during the last four years, Foster said. The touching was forceful enough to justify the rape charge, he said.

The detective and a Lynden Police sergeant went to Grubb's home in Mukilteo Tuesday, interviewed and arrested him. The girl was not in immediate danger because the abuse didn't occur at her home, Foster said.
