Note to burglars: Always measure first. Otherwise it might be too late when you discover that big screen TV won't fit through the doorway.

That's what happened to two Bellingham men who were arrested on the 3000 block of North Shore Road on Saturday, Aug. 23.

A neighbor called the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office around 4 p.m., after confronting two men as they attempted to fit a big screen TV through a doorway of an unoccupied home.

The men ran away and drove off in a pickup truck parked nearby.

The TV, however, remained stuck in the doorway, Sgt. Sean Crisp said.

Deputies caught up with the truck and arrested Patrick Daniel Stevens, 21, and Thomas Christopher Daniel, 23, both of Bellingham, on suspicion of residential burglary. They were booked into Whatcom County Jail.
