BELLINGHAM — Warm temperatures, fun floats and smiling faces are sure to be included in this year’s Ski to Sea Junior Parade, which kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday.

The daytime high for Friday is expected to reach 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, and likely will have cooled only slightly by the time the parade starts marching through downtown.

The parade lineup begins at 5 p.m. at Cornwall Avenue and Kearney Street and is firstcome, first-served, according to Sheila Connors, the marketing and events director for the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Twenty-one entries, including local bands, floats and motorized vehicles, are entered, Connors said.

Anyone is welcome to join in the parade, and walking groups do not need to fill out an entry form to participate, she said.

The theme of the parade is Transportation: Past, Present and Future.

Bands, floats and large entries needed to turn in an entry form by May 1. Those who missed the deadline but are still interested in entering the parade may call the chamber at 734-1330.

Walkers should just show up at the starting area to join in the fun.
