Whatcom County Historical Society will host an illustrated presentation of the effort to gain national historic status for three Bellingham neighborhoods - York, Lettered Streets and South Hill.

The presentation start at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in Whatcom Museum's Rotunda Room, 121 Prospect St. Admission is free to society and museum members; a $3 donation is suggested for non-members.

With the help of a federal grant, staff and volunteers have inventoried historic buildings in the neighborhoods and are nominating districts in each for the National Register of Historic Places.

For project details, go to cob.org and type "Historic Resource" in the search bar, or call Katie Franks, 778-8388.

Reach DEAN KAHN at dean.kahn@bellinghamherald.com or call 715-2291.
