Volunteers wanted for severe-weather shelters in Bellingham

BELLINGHAM - Interfaith Coalition of Whatcom County is looking for volunteers to help staff the shelters it opens to the homeless during severe weather.

Volunteers would staff the shelters during three different shifts from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.

If opened, the Bellingham shelters will be at Faith Lutheran Church for men and at Garden Street United Methodist Church for women and children.

Two shelter training sessions have been set for November in Bellingham. They are:

• 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Faith Lutheran Church, 2750 McLeod Road, for the men's shelter.

• 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Garden Street United Methodist Church, 1326 N. Garden St., for the shelter for women and children.
