LYNDEN - Early results show Scott Korthuis in the lead for mayor and Brent Lenssen winning a seat on the City Council.

Korthuis and Gary Bode are competing for mayor, a position currently held by Jack Louws.

In early results Korthuis had nearly 52 percent of the vote to Bode's more than 48 percent.

Bode, 62, is a local business owner with 10 years on Lynden City Council. Korthuis, 50, is a product manager at Oxbo International Corporation and has been on the Lynden Economic Development and Parks Advisory committees.

"I'm encouraged by the results I'm seeing at this point," Korthuis said. "I campaigned on leadership and promoting what we have in Lynden, and I think those things resonated with people in Lynden."

Lenssen led Bob Johnson about 70 percent to nearly 30 percent for the Position 4 seat on Lynden City Council.
