Commuters between Lynden and Bellingham can drive straight down Hannegan Road south of Lynden again, after county officials announced the new bridge over Scott Ditch is open to traffic.
Whatcom County Public Works Department planned to open the bridge, just south of Lynden city limits, for the evening rush hour Friday, Oct. 30. The project, funded with federal economic stimulus money, replaced an ailing bridge.
Max J. Kuney Construction completed the project in 46 working days. There will still be some minor construction and cleanup over the next few weeks, but no major traffic disruptions are expected.
