Coats, jackets, gloves and other new or gently used outerwear are being sought by Interfaith Coalition of Whatcom County for its annual coat drive.
The coalition distributes about 3,000 coats to the needy each year, according to its news release. The clothing is being collected and distributed in October and early November in five locations. Drop-off and distribution are at the same place, unless otherwise noted.
Bellingham: The gym at Church of the Assumption, 2116 Cornwall Ave. Drop off donated winter wear on Friday, Oct. 23, from 5 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Distribution will be Saturday, Oct. 24, from noon to 2 p.m., as well as noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. A community meal will be served during that Sunday distribution.
Blaine: Collection will be done at many local churches through Sunday, Oct. 11. Or drop off winter wear on Monday, Oct. 12, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Blaine Food Bank, 500 C St. Distribution will be at the food bank on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and Friday, Oct. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Everson: Everson Fire Hall, 101 E. Main St. Collection is Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon. Distribution will be on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ferndale: United Church of Ferndale, 2034 Washington St. Drop off items Monday through Friday, through Monday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. Distribution is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, and Saturday, Oct. 17
Nooksack/Foothills area: Foothills Food Bank, which is at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6210 Mount Baker Highway near Deming. Drop off donated winter wear on Monday, Nov. 2, from 8 to 10 a.m. Distribution will be Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
